INTRODUCTION

Wadi Rum is a internationally renowned centre for climbing and climbers come here from all over the world to climb on the sandstone cliffs.

The Bedouin in Wadi Rum have always climbed and many of the visitors look at the "Bedouin routes" with some respect.  Although classed as "scrambles"  these routes represent a challenge, or at least an enjoyable day out,  to any climber and when one considers that the Bedouin climbed without ropes or any aid equipment, often alone, one realises just how skilled they had to be.

Today the local guides are highly competent to lead parties on these routes.

Attayak Ali is a specialist on these "Bedouin Roads" which he knows very well indeed. Many climbers, coming to Wadi Rum to climb the great sandstone cliffs, also enjoy a few days on these routes. They are challenging and follow the ways used by the Bedouin for hunting and for surveying their territory.  Most of them use ropes and involve abseiling at some point.

Although they are professional guides, as a service to climbing in Wadi Rum, Attayak Ali and Attayak Aouda will both give all assistance to new visitors on their arrival in Rum, with help on settling in, advice on suitable climbs and providing contacts for drivers to the more distant climbing spots. No charge will be made for this help.
