The office of Wadi Rum Mountain Guides
is in the village of Rum, just opposite the main mosque and the Post Office
there. (Sorry, but the streets don't have posted names
in this small village!) There are no real office hours, and unless we
are expecting you it is unlikely that anybody will be there.
Our office phone number is +962.795.899.723 (or
0795.899.723 from inside Jordan). This number should always be answered by
somebody speaking English.
When you make a reservation please note the page about "Private
Tours".
You can reach us by email at
info@bedouinroads.com or by fax at
+962.3.203.2651. But please do NOT rely on email at the
last moment. Internet in Wadi Rum is always uncertain, sometimes we
are unable to log in for several days. And we very often sleep in the
desert so cannot check email either in the evening or in the early
morning. If you want to say "we are arriving tomorrow" (you
will be very welcome!) please say it by
telephone to 0795.899.723. The problem is that because an email has been
sent it does not necessarily mean that it has been read!! Please
note also that when you send an email or fax we ask you to state as
simply and
as concisely as possible what you desire. (We were completely stopped
recently by the phrase "dairy products" for instance. We had no idea
what was meant!). We have a secretary who speaks
excellent English but she isn't always here, and when we have to reply
ourselves, we sometimes panic! We have no problem in SPEAKING English, but
we have less practice in reading and writing it. Please help us!
I am almost always in the desert in the late afternoon and early
evening, and out of mobile connexion, but you are
welcome to call me at other times.
However an email would normally
be answered within twelve hours, so unless your
question is complicated or urgent or both, I suggest that
you give priority to this option
We should like to warn you too about
booking in advance by phone if you can possibly avoid it. We are happy to answer any
questions by phone about the tours, but we might be half way up a mountain, out
shopping, in a meeting, stuck in a traffic jam or in a number of situations
where we cannot make an immediate note of a firm booking and then quite often we
are in trouble!! Please ALWAYS confirm by email.
The office keeps us straight, but the
number of bookings does mean that we find it difficult to keep track by phone. A
written reservation means that everybody is happy, not to mention that it is
required by the rules of the Nature Reserve....
If you need to write to us, our address is
PO Box 2496, Aqaba, Jordan.
