MAP OF THE WADI RUM AREA
SOUTH OF JEBEL RUM
This map covers our
"operational area" to the south of Jebel Rum. Only the northern part of this map
figures on the
maps that are generally available.
The road stops at Rum village to the east of Jebel Rum; we would usually meet you at the Visitors' Centre (n°1 on the map) which is just opposite the Seven Pillars of Wisdom..
This map includes places like Jebel Barrah and the Barrah Canyon, Jebel Burdah and the Bridge and Jebel Khazali.
It also shows the Suweibit area where we can take you in a jeep for an extra day in the desert into the wide and lonely valley of Wadi Saabit and the Khasch where we often lead hikes. In the far south you can see Jebel Um Adaami on the Saudi border.
The numbers show the main sites that we show you during our classic jeep tour "A Day with the Bedouin". We start in the village and drive first to Lawrence's Spring and then to the red sand dunes in Wadi Um Ishrin and to Jebel Anafishiya where you can also see some Nabatean inscriptions. We continue to the Barragh Canyon. Here we have lunch. There is an optional short hike in the canyon for about a kilometer. In the afternoon we drive to where we have a view up the mountain of the bridge on Jebel Burdah, and then to Um Fruth Bridge (which you can climb if you wish - it is about 20 meters high) and Khazali Canyon before going back to the camp where we spend the night.
The above links open in a separate page so that you can keep the map page open.
